Wedding News from Around the World
China: A Chinese bride who had to choose between her wedding day and taking a compulsory teaching exam decided to attend both and moved the ceremony location to that of the school so she could complete the exam without having to change the date of her wedding day. The bride, Luo Yingchao, sat for the two hour exam in full wedding attire and, immediately afterwards, exchanged vows with her fiancé Chu Moayang before her invited guests and her fellow teachers taking the exam.
Malaysia: A wealthy Singaporean businessman threw a lavish wedding for his daughter that lasted six days, covered three countries and cost 1.8 million U.S dollars. To accommodate the numerous friends, business associates and family members who traveled from around the world to attend the six-day bash, the father purchased first class airline tickets and rented 120 suites at the prestigious St Regis Hotel. Wedding guests didn’t even have to hail a taxi to attend the numerous events throughout the four days they were in Singapore. The bride’s father also rented 60 luxury cars with chauffeurs to ferry the guests before whisking them off to New Delhi and Dubai for the remaining two days of the wedding extravaganza.
England: It used to be that a pregnant bride would go out of her way to hide her expanding belly. But now there’s a wedding dress shop in London that caters only to pregnant brides. Called Expectant Brides, the shop offers personal consultations to pregnant women planning to marry before the arrival. The dresses are longer at the front so that they don't ride up over the bump - and are pulled in at the back to give a flattering shape. Its designers are trained to estimate how big a bride's bump will be by the big day, and design a dress accordingly. Tracey Wilkinson who was seven months pregnant at her own wedding, started the business after finding it difficult to find a dress herself. Added Wilkinson, "Times have definitely changed and it is no longer frowned upon to get married while pregnant. The business is doing really well."
