Let's Laugh: Wedding Joke of the Day!
A young woman was walking along the beach when she found an old lamp. She picked it up and suddenly a Genie appeared. The woman asked if she was going to get three wishes. The Genie said, "No, due to inflation, downsizing, low wages, and fierce competition, I can only grant one wish. So, what'll it be?" The woman said, "I want peace in the Middle East. See this map? I want these countries to stop fighting." The Genie looked at the map, "Good Grief, lady! These countries have been at war for thousands of years. I don't think it can be done. Make another wish." The woman thought and said, "I've never been able to find the right man, one that's considerate, fun, likes to cook, helps with the housework, doesn't watch sports all the time, and is faithful. That's what I want, a good husband." The Genie let out a long sigh and said, "Let me see that map!"

Wedding News from Around the World
United States:Most brides-to-be pick their best friends to serve as their maids or matrons of honor. However, Erica Schultz's isn’t her high school friend or college roommate. It's her 92-year-old grandmother. Angelene Schultz will stand beside her granddaughter when the 26-year-old marries Mark James in Saginaw, Michigan later this month. "She is my best friend," said Erica, who owns a Web design business with her fiance. "When my grandpa died, she bought a house down the street from our family. When Erica met Mark in 2001, they stopped by her grandmother’s house on the evening of their first date. Angelene, who helped Erica choose her wedding gown, proudly admitted "I feel it is a big honor for me to be in the wedding party, and I'm happy to do it, even if I do raise some eyebrows."
Lebanon:Zena Khalil’s wedding gift to her brother was anything but ordinary. With the help of the American University of Beirut’s Nature Conservation Center, Khalil, a Lebanese recycling artist and environmental activist, arranged to have 1000 trees planted to make up for the non-recycable resources that would be spent on the wedding. "Growing up in Nigeria my brother Nidal and I developed a special connection to the land," said Zena. "Since we were flying people in from all around the world, I thought it would be a great idea to plant trees for each of the over 1,000 guests attending my brother's wedding." In addition to the planted trees, each guest received tree gift brochures and small wooden tree silhouette souvenirs donated by the conservation center.
Canada:When Danita McGarva and Don Hunt became engaged, the couple from Alberta, Canada decided that their wedding day would be less traditional than both of their first weddings. Self- proclaimed car buffs, they opted instead for a ceremony held at the race track in front of family and friends. Said Hunt, “We own probably 24 cars between all of us,” “We spend a lot of time, working on our cars, or helping family work on their cars. It feels like tradition.” Following a shootout, the couple wearing matching race shirts - his said “Driver”, her’s said “Crew Chief” exchanged vows in front of the minister who wore the shirt bearing the name "Official” and their supportive family whose wedding attire fittingly displayed the label, "Pit Crew."
